gilakas’la / čɛčɛ haθɛč, We are deeply grateful for, and respectfully acknowledge that the lands upon which we and all our Central Island Artists produce their creative work are the unceded traditional territory of Puntledge, Eiksan, K’ómoks, Homalco and Tla’amin first nations, and the Te’mexw Treaty Association.

Trish Malcomess Art

Reflecting contemporary culture through her work, Trish’s research-based practice has evolved into two distinct streams, Social and Environmental. Resiliency within these streams is where she finds inspiration and blurs boundaries between writing, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, photography, painting and life.

Recently, Trish has been building a large body of work called 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 which is inspired by the artists extensive walks along the breathtaking coastlines of Vancouver Island and the Wild Coast of South Africa.

This unique collection emerged as Trish documented her surroundings during the pandemic, transforming her observations into a deeply immersive experience. Through her artwork, Trish captures the surrealistic essence of those isolated years, blending the boundaries between reality and imagination. Each piece invites viewers to step into an alternative realm where the familiar and the unfamiliar coexist in a harmonious balance.

𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 aims not only to transport its audience but also to provoke introspection and dialogue around the environmental and social challenges we face today. Trish’s work encourages us to reflect on our place within the world and the impact we have on our surroundings.

Don’t miss the chance to experience this thought-provoking work, where art meets activism in a stunning display of creativity and consciousness.

Trish studied FineArts at East London School of Art, South Africa, and achieved her BFA through Emily Carr University in Canada. As an interdisciplinary artist and conservationist, she has been exhibiting and publishing her work in South Africa and Canada since 1977.

For the 2025 Studio Tour, Trish will be sharing a heated studio space with Ameet Gill at Studio 4two5.
