“I’m a passionate landscape painter in love with Vancouver Island and the west coast. For the past 30 years or more I’ve focused my energy on painting the places where I walk and bike near my home the Comox Valley. My paintings are inspired by such things as the beautiful textures found in the woven tangles of a winter rain forest, the crazy shapes and patterns of things revealed on the beaches at low tide, and the colourful depths seen through layers of opaque cloud formations. Each unique element working together as part of a bigger design; the end result being a rhythmic, stylized translation of the west coast.” ~ Bev Byerley
Bev has been a professional artist for more than 30 years living and working out of her home studio in the Comox Valley. Encouraged to create art early in life, Bev’s parents enrolled her in an adult painting class at 8 years of age. After graduating from G.P.Vanier she furthered her studies with an oil painting program at the Banff School of Fine Arts and then a 2 year commercial arts program at Capilano College in North Vancouver.
