Corina Menz grew up in Germany and moved to North Vancouver with her husband and son in 1996 and currently lives in Comox, Vancouver Island.
Besides her career in IT, she has been involved in the arts throughout her adult life, having explored different media. She has taken painting classes in the Lower Mainland and Germany to explore landscape painting and still life. More recently she has been attracted to painting figures and portraits. The figures and portraits are a reflection of her observations of people around her.
She starts a painting with some sketches to work out a composition that she feels will support her idea. Corina is interested in communicating an emotional tone and sense of mystery that she feels every person has. She works mostly with acrylics on canvas in multiple layers, sometimes on paper and chooses her palette intuitively. Her work is in private collections in Canada and Germany.
