Author: Bev Byerley Artworks

Born in Gimli, Manitoba, local painter Bev Byerley became a resident of the Comox Valley as a young child when her father was transfered to C.F.B Comox in 1965. Bev's parents recognised and encouraged her artistic talents at a very early age, and at 8 years old they enrolled her in an adult painting class. She pursued her love of art throughout her school years and upon graduating from G.P.Vanier she furthered her studies in an oil painting program at the Banff School of Fine Arts in Alberta. With plans to be a freelance illustrator, Bev was accepted into the Communicative Arts Program at Capilano College in North Vancouver. After working a short time working for a graphic artist in downtown Vancouver, Bev and her new husband then moved back to the Comox Valley where they owned and operated a small print shop. Her commitment to her individuality over the years has resulted in Bev developing a style uniquely her own. In her application of paint, the images and colours are shaped with an impressionistic influence where she captures the essence of her subject in flowing line and colour, while displaying a strong sense of design and balance.
