Rita’s lifelong interest in the creation of art has been mixed over the years with a focus on printmaking and painting. Printmaking is her passion, experimenting mainly with multiple colour plate etchings and collagraphs and combinations of the two. In transferring the image from the plates to paper both processes compliment each other. The precision of the etching and the looseness of the collagraph reflect the natural and man made forms depicted in her work. Through her prints and paintings she captures a moment in time while examining the different forms and textures of nature and the human interaction between the two. The various degrees of contrast offered by the natural play of sunlight and shadows she finds fascinating and that is apparent in her work.
Rita has exhibited locally and nationally and her work has been collected both privately and publicly.
