gilakas’la / čɛčɛ haθɛč, We are deeply grateful for, and respectfully acknowledge that the lands upon which we and all our Central Island Artists produce their creative work are the unceded traditional territory of Puntledge, Eiksan, K’ómoks, Homalco and Tla’amin first nations, and the Te’mexw Treaty Association.

Donald Cunningham

My latest series is  deliberately simple.  I am trying to capture the interplay of three elements:  sky, water, and land at different times of the day and night. I made several trips to Long Beach and during long walks on the beach I was amazed at the immensity of each element.  As I attempted each painting I often felt quite inadequate. My largest piece is 48 inches by 36 inches and it still feels small.  I think it becomes a question of scale and I hope to complete a much larger painting that might impart this immensity.
