David Vegt is a Canadian painter working primarily in oil on birch panel, drawing inspiration from traditional masters such as Manet, Repin, Sargent, and Rembrandt, as well as contemporary figurative artists including Keita Morimoto, Odd Nerdrum, and Vincent Desiderio. His work reflects a lifelong dedication to representational painting, informed by both formal study—earning a BA in English and Fine Art from the University of the Fraser Valley, where he received multiple awards—and ongoing independent learning through influential texts on painting. Recognized both locally and internationally, David has been a finalist in the Art Renewal Center Salon in New York, exhibited at the Representational Art Conference in the Netherlands, and received awards from the Federation of Canadian Artists for his naturalistic and figurative work.
