Born in 1957 and raised in Germany, Menz moved to North Vancouver, Canada in 1996 with her husband and son. Now retired, she resides in Comox on Vancouver Island, where she continues to pursue her passion for art.
Alongside a career in IT and as a floral designer, Menz has actively engaged with the arts throughout her adult life, exploring a variety of media and styles. She has attended numerous art classes and workshops in Canada, Germany and Mexico.
Since 2021, she has been part of an online mentoring program with Felix Eckardt in Hamburg, Germany, which continues to refine her artistic practice.
Menz’s current work is primarily figurative, centering on the beauty and depth of everyday life—ordinary people and moments infused with emotional resonance and an underlying sense of mystery. Her creative process begins with strong compositions, starting as sketches that capture her vision. Using layers of acrylic paint on canvas or paper.
Menz’s work invites viewers to step into the present moment and pause, weaving their imagination and personal experiences into the narrative of her paintings.
Menz’s work has been shown in juried shows, community shows and group exhibitions in both Canada and Germany.
