I am a Comox Valley based artist primarily working in painting, as well as some drawing and mixed media. My practice centres around explorations and inquiries into the natural environment, including the landscape, animals and people. These explorations are primarily focused on the environment of BC’s west coast and Vancouver Island where I was born and raised. My work attempts to open a dialogue, calling upon the viewer to consider their interactions with the natural world and with one another. Through the creation of my work I am able to gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the west coast environment and the beings that reside here – the beauty and the struggles. My hope is that the viewer is able to do the same.
I was born and raised on Vancouver Island, on the breathtaking West Coast of BC. In 2017 I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Emily Carr University of Art & Design. In 2015 I completed the Fine Arts Diploma Program at North Island College. I have been involved in the Comox Valley arts community as a volunteer for the NIC Student Art Events, as a self-directed Curatorial Coop student for Raven Hall Gallery in 2015, and as Curatorial/Gallery Assistant at the Comox Valley Art Gallery from 2014-2016, as an Assistant Manager at a local First Nations Art Gallery from 2021-present, and as an Artist in numerous exhibitions in the Comox Valley and surrounding areas. Having lived in the Comox Valley for my whole life, I have a deep appreciation for its rich and vibrant arts community and the beautiful and inspiring west coast.
