Fay St Marie paints from her backyard studio in Parksville, BC. Fay has a Fine Arts degree with a Distinguished Exhibition from the University of Saskatchewan. She majored in painting with classes in drawing, printmaking, photography and art history. She has been painting for over 40 years and became full time after leaving her nursing career in the 90s. Landscapes, still life, floral and her Ukrainian Babushka series are her main subjects. The Ukrainian series was inspired by a trip to Ukraine in 2008 and her mother’s Ukrainian heritage. Color, line, texture and mood of a subject inspire to create the paintings. Painting mainly in acrylic because of the versatility of the medium.
